The outdoor condenser unit sits on a concrete pad outside the house and holds the compressor and condenser coil, the hardware that drives the whole system. Inside, the air handler or furnace-based coil cabinet mounts in a utility space, attic, or garage and carries the evaporator coil, which is where the air in your home actually passes through the system.
